Aditya Thackeray who is the Environment Minister of Maharashtra inaugurated Mumbai’s first public Electric Vehicle Charging Station. This charging station is installed by the BMC at a public parking area in Dadar.
As per the details released by BMC, this charging station can charge 7 EVs at a time. This makes it one of its kind facility to come up at public parking. This is the very first of many more to come as a civic body has been directed by Mr. Thackeray to develop and install public EV charging stations at various parking lots.
EV charging stations at public parking lots make a lot of sense and provide extra convenience to the EV user. This will further attract non-EVs users using that parking lot as well.
“In areas with a high number of electric vehicles, it is necessary to give priority to smart charging stations. In this regard, a detailed survey should be conducted and charging stations should be made available in more and more parking lots,” Mr. Thackeray.
The 4 out of 7 charging points are fast charging which can fully charge an EV in 1 to 1.5 hours. The other three are the slow charging chargers. The slow chargers can fully charge an EV in six hours.
